"I am very impressed with the spirit of caring and commitment of all of the members of the Ten Rainbows Children's Foundation."
- Chritstine Fitzpatrick, CAS

The Primary focus of the Ten Rainbows Children's Foundation is to provide an alternative source of funding for individuals or groups who might otherwise not qualify for more traditional municipal, provincial or federal government assistance.

We are here to help and in doing so, improve the quality of life of children.

Some of our projects are quite extensive and aimed at reaching large numbers of children in a meaningful way.

Some are smaller, quieter, but we would like to believe have every bit as much impact. Some of our past and present projects have included such things as:

  • purchasing toys and audio/visual equipment for the toy room in the children's wing at the Northeastern Regional Cancer Centre

  • providing funds for the establishment of a library and purchasing Braille children's book and other audio/visual equipment for the CNIB

  • annually purchasing toys for the Children's Aid Society Christmas fund

  • annual contributions to the MCTV/Lions Christmas Telethon

  • ongoing projects to provide funds to the Separate School Board and Public School Board for the purchase of specialized equipment and teaching materials

  • funding the Sudbury Therapeutic Riding Program that provides horses and lessons for children who are disabled or can benefit medically from riding

  • donations to the Send A Kid To Camp program each summer

  • donations to the YWCA Genevra House

  • sponsoring the annual Blues for Food

  • ongoing donations to Child Care Resources

  • buying a computer with large screen monitor, a one-handed Brailler, and software that would allow the computer to "talk" to the child

  • funding special diets for children with medical problems

  • granting "wishes" such as taking children to hockey games in Montreal or Toronto

  • donating tickets to local hockey games

  • donating travel expenses for medical appointments in southern Ontario

  • purchasing a special walker to help a young girl be able to walk on her own

  • purchasing a wig for a very young girl whose chemotherapy treatments had caused her hair to fall out

  • supplying toys and Christmas dinner to a single Mom whose home had burned down just days before Christmas

  • adopting whole families at Christmas to supply food and gifts

  • donating funds for a set of premature twins whose very survival depends upon getting an extremely expensive specialized food available nowhere in Canada

  • paying travel expenses for a young boy with leukemia so that he may be able to get the treatments needed to keep him alive

  • granting a young boys wish to see "The Circus"

  • taking a young blind boy to Montreal because he always wanted to "see" a hockey game and try a ride on the subway (it turns out the game was cool, but the the subway ride was the absolute Most Fun!)

  • buying wheelchairs

  • and MORE!

As you can see, sometimes it's the broad strokes that can fill those "gaps" and sometimes we've found that some small gesture or effort has made a child's day just a little brighter. We do what we can, where ever we can find a place to do it.
